About Jim

James Wanders began painting in 1971 after a tragic Thanksgiving Day accident on a farm in rural Missouri.

He received third degree burns on 85% of his body and was left with the challenge of overcoming his fear of the future with prosthetic limbs, and disfigurement at the age of 13.

While still in his hospital bed, an afternoon activity director put a paintbrush in the end of his bandage, which so became a force for renewed hope in a future.

In 1980, Jim began painting full time on his first three major works: Open Destiny, Prophecy, and Struggle, for which he has received 3 First Place Awards, and a Past President Award for the most original style and technique.

Jim creates unique and powerful works of art that are as inspirational as the man himself.

He is a highly sought-after public speaker, delivering a heart-felt testimony of the strength of the human spirit, against great odds through faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
